Summer Barns

When the owners purchased a rare open space parcel on the southeastern edge of the Town of Crested Butte, they were inspired to contribute meaningfully to the community’s well-being. In collaboration with enthusiastic local partners, they set out to realize the ecological, recreational, and social potential the land offered.

Because the site and its buildings are visible from the highway entrance into town, preserving its ranching character was a top priority. In 2018, a new barn and loafing shed were thoughtfully constructed to appear timeworn and authentic. Built with reclaimed wood and locally sourced timbers, these structures honor the area’s ranching heritage while quietly anchoring the property in its landscape.
